Baby clothing store BabyGear, founded in 2012, is the world’s second-largest online baby clothing retailer, after Amazon.
The company operates in more than 70 countries and has more than 4,000 brands, and has grown its global footprint by purchasing brands from leading brands like Calvin Klein and Calvin Klein Premium.
It’s the first store in San Diego to open in the Bay Area, and it’s also the first San Diego store to be licensed by the city.
The online retailer will open in its first location on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, in San Marcos, a small neighborhood just west of the city’s historic Mission Bay.
A spokesperson for the company told The Verge the store will be “the first baby clothes retailer to be in San Antonio.”
BabyGear’s first location will be at 1205 Market St., just south of the Mission Bay Civic Center, in a building currently used as a liquor store.
The store will have more than 10,000 items, with a focus on baby essentials like shirts, hats, and scarves.
The stores’ goal is to serve “the baby industry,” the spokesperson said, adding that BabyGear will also offer apparel and accessories.
BabyGear has already sold more than 7,000 baby clothes, and will soon have 100,000, according the spokesperson.
The spokesperson said that while the company plans to focus on online shopping, the store plans to “be the first baby apparel retailer in San Angelo.”
The spokesperson did not say how many stores the company currently has in San Mateo County.
